Corsair K70 Core SE - Dark Cherry Blossom
Corsair MLX Red switches
Corsair is one of the most recognisable names in gaming peripherals, with a keyboard lineup that runs from budget-friendly membrane entry points right up to flagship models like the Vanguard Pro 96 and Galleon 100 SD. Most models run on Corsair's own MLX and MGX switch ecosystem and tie into the iCUE software platform for lighting and macro control. The range skews toward full-size and TKL layouts, though the K65 Plus remains a standout 75% option and the Vanguard series brings compact full-size layouts — including hot-swappable 96% and low-profile 99% models — to the lineup.

Cherry MX Red or Speed Silver switches
Most current Corsair keyboards use the brand's own switch lineup: MLX switches cover linear (Red), tactile (Fusion), and speed variants, while MGX switches are magnetic Hall Effect designs aimed at competitive gaming. Older and budget models use Cherry MX switches, and the entry-level K55 range uses membrane switches rather than mechanical.
Some are, but not all. The Vanguard series and K65 Plus are hot-swappable, making them the best options if you want to swap switches without soldering. Most K70 and K100 models are not hot-swappable. The compare table above lists hot-swap support for every model in the range.
Yes, Corsair keyboards work with Mac as standard HID devices — plug in and type. The K65 Plus Wireless has dedicated Mac variants with macOS key labelling. iCUE software, which handles lighting and macros, is available for both Windows and Mac.
The main difference is layout. The K70 is a full-size keyboard with a numpad, while the K65 in its current form is a 75% layout without one. The K70 also sits higher in the range in terms of build and features — the K70 Pro TKL uses MGX Hall Effect switches, whereas the K65 Plus uses MLX switches. If you want a compact layout without sacrificing too many keys, the K65 Plus is the stronger choice.
Corsair offers wireless options across several layouts. The K65 Plus Wireless covers the 75% category, the K70 Core TKL Wireless handles TKL, and the Vanguard 96 Wireless and Vanguard AIR 99 Wireless cover compact full-size. Most wireless models support both Bluetooth and Corsair's Slipstream 2.4GHz USB dongle connection.
iCUE is Corsair's software platform for configuring keyboards, mice, and other peripherals. It handles per-key RGB lighting profiles, macro programming, and firmware updates. It also allows synchronised lighting across multiple Corsair devices. iCUE is available for Windows and Mac and is free to download from Corsair's website.
